24 Hours Cancellation Policy

Southwest doesn’t have a specific 24-hour cancellation policy for its passengers. The airline allows you to cancel your flight 10 minutes before the flight’s departure. If you don’t cancel your flight within that period of time the airline will consider you a No-Show and will only refund the amount in the flight credit form, but, there’s an exception to this: 

For the passengers who booked their flight ticket with a Southwest gift card or Southwest LUV Voucher and canceled their ticket within the first 24 hours of booking the flight, you can contact the airline here, whereas if they canceled their ticket after the first 24 hours of booking the flight, the airline will reimburse the amount in only flight credit form.

How Will I Get My Southwest Refund?

You can get a Southwest refund in different ways:

  • Credit card: If you booked your flight ticket with your credit card and you chose to get a refund from the airline through a credit card the airline will refund your amount within 7 business days.
  • Cash: If you booked your flight using cash at the airport, the airline will issue a cheque in your name within 20 business days for domestic flights.
  • Points: If you want your amount to get refunded in the points form, the points will go back to the Rapid Rewards account used to book the flight. Any taxes/fees not paid for using points can either be refunded as a method-of-payment refund or a flight credit to be used toward a future flight.
